This can be used as a controller for music production software as well, and most people don't know that you xoftware save and load up to 10 sets of midi commands for controlling other software using the Enigma editor available on the M-Audio website.
For house parties or bedroom DJing it would be fine without a soundcard but for professional DJing I would definitely recommend the use of an external soundcard.
